Music—including service music and outreach in the form of periodic concerts—is one of our most important ministries. (By the way, if you are interested in using our space for a community concert or recital please, contact us. )
From time to time, those of us who like to sing come together as the “Unchoir” to “make a joyful noise.” Why do we call ourselves the Unchoir? Because we don’t want to exclude anyone who doesn’t think they’ve had enough music training. Not that we don’t try our best. We just don’t get hung up about it. We usually sing at least Easter and Christmas, with rehearsals in the four preceding weeks. No auditions necessary for this informal gathering!
We love our organist and accompanist, Kathy West. She and her musical friends treat us to everything from classical to rag to tried-and-true hymns. We're spoiled. On a good day, others join in with piano and a stringed instrument or two. Our favorite way to make music is together.
When it comes to praising God, each musical style has its own little twist, and at St. B, we love 'em all! A typical Sunday worship service could include traditional hymns, to Taizé, to contemporary Christian songs and choruses, to gospel. We sing to praise God. Why not join your voice with ours?
